Coleus forskohlii is an herb grown in Nepal, Thailand and India. Coleus Forskohlii has been tested as a fat reduction nutrient, but it’s ability to do that has not been well established. There was a report from the August 2005 Obesity Research that stated that obese men had experienced a significant decrease in body fat and fat mass, with an increase in lean body mass (muscle). There was also an increase in bone mass. This is good. However, another study published in December 2005 in the Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition stated that 23 overweight women did not experience weight loss during the 12 week test. It is possible that women do not react to Coleus Forskohlii like men do.
One thing that is generally agreed upon is that Coleus Forskohlii has been shown to activate an enzyme that will increase cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP). Increased levels of the molecule cAMP has been shown to increase testosterone. By activating cAMP, Coleus Forskohlii is also thought to be able to relax blood vessels within the body which could reduce blood vessel damage. cAMP works to help heart muscle contractions which helps reduce the workload of the heart.
Additionally, there was a study from the University of Kansas that reported that men using Coleus Forskohlii lost fat and experienced higher levels of testosterone that men taking a placebo. In our own experience, we noted an increase in strength over time when we added this component to the Time Machine.
cAMP, along with it’s analog db cAMP, and StAR and P450scc are responsible for converting cholesterol into testosterone by the leydig cells. Reductions in cAMP in aged leydig cells leads to reduced testosterone production, even though leutinizing hormone (LH) was sufficient. We can surmise that in older men, efficient production of testosterone would involve more than just raising LH. cAMP levels need to be addressed, along with other issues such as oxidative stress in the leydig cells. All of these issues are addressed by the Time Machine.
There are no side effects that we have come across for dosages that range from 25mg to 500mg per day. The safety record is very good. Coleus Forskohlli has been around for centuries, and has gained popularity as a supplement since around 1995.
